We are located in the beautiful hill-station of Chikhaldara situated near the Melghat wild-life sanctuary, Maharashtra. Chikhaldara is well connected to all parts of India by road and has got excellent tele-communication services.

Nearest Town:
Paratwada/Achalpur: The twin towns of Achalpur and Paratwada are the nearest town to Chikhaldara. There are number of buses and tourist vehicles available to help you reach Satpura Retreat. There are two roads between Paratwada and Chikhaldara. The road via ‘Dhamangaon’ is the shorter route and is very scenic albeit with some steep climbs in certain sections. The route via ‘Ghatang’ is the older, longer route and is a part of a national highway going towards Madhya Pradesh. The buses and tourist vehicles nowadays use the ‘Dhamangaon’ route.
Akot: 90 kms. Located on the south-western periphery of the Melghat sanctuary, Akot is a major trading town, the base of the promoters of Satpura Retreat and is located on the old Jaipur-Hyderabad meter gauge line. Regular MSRTC buses to Paratwada and tourist taxis as required operate from here.
Nearest Rail Heads:
- Badnera (Amravati): Located on the busy Mumbai-Kolkata Line, there are many direct trains to Badnera from major cities such as Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Raipur, Bhusaval etc. Preferred rail station for Tourists coming from the eastern direction. From here take the road route to Chikhaldara via Achalpur. This is a very peaceful drive with Farms and Orange Orchards on both sides of the road.
- Akola: Rail connectivity same as above. Additionally Akola is also located on the old Jaipur-Hyderabad Rail line. Preferred rail station for Tourists coming from the western direction. From here go to Chikhaldara via Akot and Achalpur.
Both Akola and Amravati have excellent connectivity of MSRTC Buses to Achalpur/Paratwada. Additionally Private taxies are easily available for the journey. These can also be pre-arranged by us on prior request.
Nearest Airport:
Nagpur: 230 kms. Nagpur is the biggest city in vicinity of Chikhaldara. It has excellent Rail, Air and road connectivity with all parts of the country and many overseas locations. To reach Chikhaldara from Nagpur, take the NH-6 to Amravati and then follow the route to Chikhaldara. Daily MSRTC buses ply towards Paratwada and Chikhaldara. Tourist taxis are also available for hire as required.
Weather/Clothing:
- Oct – Feb: Cool and crisp. Temp in Dec-Jan Period is well below 10 deg C. Winter Clothing is necessary.
- March – Mid June: Warm in day and cool in the evenings. Comfortable summer clothing. But carrying a jacket/shawl is advisable for nights.
- July – Sept: Monsoon Time. Carrying rain gear is must. Also advisable to carry warm clothing for evening.
Keeping in mind that it is a forest area, wearing bright clothing is not recommended. Earthy/pastel shades are best suited and especially necessary for the wild-life Safari.
Nearby Attractions:
1. Semadoh: The starting point of Wild-life safari in the Melghat Tiger Reserve. It is at a distance of 26 km from Chikhaldara. Situated on the pristine Banks of Sipna River, Semadoh is also the location of the second Satpura Retreat resort.
2. Shegaon: Famous for Sant Gajanan Maharaj Madir and for the world-class Anand Sagar Park.
3. Narnala fort: 25 kms from Akot, it is one of the oldest forts in the country. |
